Enjoy everything from vintage cars to hot rods at the 16th annual San Juan College Automotive Benefit Car Show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 12, in the Trades and Technology parking lot at San Juan College.

In addition to the car show, the School of Trades and Technology will host an open house, giving the public the opportunity to learn more about the programs offered by the school, which includes Welding, Instrumentation & Controls, Drafting, Cosmetology, Auto Body, Building Trades, Machine Shop, Diesel Technology and Automotive Technology. With each program tour, a ticket will be given for a chance to win a customized trailer. Participants must be 16 years of age or older to enter the drawing.

The tour schedule begins with Welding at 10:20-10:40 a.m.; Instrumentation & Controls from 10:40-11 a.m.; Drafting from 11-11:20 a.m.; Cosmetology from 11:20-11:40 a.m.; Auto Body from 11:40 a.m.-noon; Building Trades from noon-12:20 p.m.; Machine Shop from 12:20-12:40; Diesel Technology from 12:40-1 p.m.; and Automotive Technology from 1-1:20 p.m.

The customized trailer was blueprinted and fabricated by students in the welding program, while students in the auto body program painted it, students in carpentry completed the flooring, and automotive students were responsible for wiring the trailer.

In addition to the tours and the drawing for the trailer, food and other door prizes will be available. The event provides an opportunity for the staff, instructors and students of the San Juan College Automotive Program to offer their appreciation to the community for its support.

The car show is free to the public; however exhibitors pay a space fee of $15. The proceeds benefit People Assisting the Homeless (PATH), a non-profit organization that temporarily provides food, shelter and clothing for individuals and families in need.
